LAKKADGHOOM
An evolving studio practice led by Reha Salvi.
Objects shaped through attention, time and movement.
Woodturning explored as a sculptural, material-led practice.
Lakkadghoom began when making with my hands became a necessity rather than a hobby. After a decade in design working as an architect and interior designer, I found myself searching for a slower, more direct relationship with material and making; one where thought travelled through touch, not screens.
On the lathe, form develops through movement and resistance, responding to grain, balance, and subtle shifts in the material as they appear. The work exists in the space between usefulness and contemplation, inviting closer looking and slower engagement.
Learning through repetition, failure and movement.

Working on a lathe means committing to the moment. There are no rehearsals, no undoing. Each form emerges in real time, shaped as much by the material’s history as by my own decisions. What grows, cracks, twists, or resists becomes part of the work. Tools, texture, and motion leave traces that remain visible in the finished form.

Each form carries the memory of how it was made.

No two pieces arrive the same way.
